Fun event and it's perfect that Shakira kicks it all off.

 

In the Revenge category I've only watched Secret (Love), which was pretty good. Mask also reminded me a bit of Secret (Love), and though both had some makjang elements I enjoyed them.

 

For the Cheating category, I really like This Week My Wife is Having an Affair with Lee Sun-kyun. It was unexpectedly funny and quirky, and raised some important issues about women working full-time and also being expected to take care of the kids and home.

 

The chemistry between the leads in Romance is a Bonus Book was super sweet and cute, and some favorite supporting actors were in that one, too.

And My Mister is one of the best healing dramas of course; thanks for including it! It starts out so grim but ends up so moving and quietly joyful.

 

 

 

I also loved It's Okay to Not be Okay. The transformation of the three leads is powerful and made me cry buckets.

Is it an ongoing daily? I guess there are just too many dramas depicting cheating and infidelities... What about you @rocher22, you also voted none in this category for cheating  Is there another drama missing in the list you'd like to see here?

From what I’ve heard The Glory might be too anger-inducing for me, as I have a hard time with bullying stories that could happen in real life. But let me know how you like it once S2 is out!

Oh I can't stomache bullying either in most kdramas as @partyon can tell you. I get really angry with them, and somehow mixed with disbelief. The Glory does have the first episode where the story is quite eyeopening, although I have to say that it was necessary to depict to show how her life had been. Once you move to episode 2 the story moves to life after bullying, albeit she does of course re-meet them all. 

 

I have also watched Weak Hero yesterday (8 episodes à 45 minutes). The scenes were easier to swallow but there is violence / and many fight scenes as this plot is about high school bullies / crime / gangs.

@Ameera Ali a few things why KBS doesn't make the list.

It's ongoing. It's hard to tell whether he's after her money or her body. I think it was mainly to squeeze her off her money, an affair should be consensual. Anyway, whatever the definition of an affair is, who would go to bed with the psycho willingly? Ergo it was not an affair.

 

I don't think Glory should be here, it's yet to complete. Her revenge has not taken off. I hope part 2 will be great. I had to skip chunks of the first part. 
 

How is Reborn Rich a revenge show? The man was in coma for a week. It was 17 years of another man's life. The 'perpetrators' did not know they were set up by their victim. No, it's not good revenge. A revenge is  very good if it were rammed down the throat of the target, he/she should know why. 
 

I did not tick Pledge to God, I forgot the show earlier. It was good, the cheater husband ended up breaking up with thr woman he cheated with. But the premise of bringing a child to this world to be used as an organ donor is thoroughly repulsive. The baby was supposed to provide bone marrow for the brother. My doctor friends told me that it was horrendously painful to extract the marrow. I remember reading about a Mexican couple who did that.

 

Not to forget Red Balloon which is ongoing. Episode 17 made up for stomach churning cheating in the earlier episodes. But chingus it's not here. If you want to make it less painful, watch first couple of episodes than jump to 16-17.

Haven't seen many of the "cheating" dramas.  Just not my cup of tea.  I did notice that my votes did reflect my taste for older actors

The voting for me wasn't easy this time around. There weren't really many dramas on the list that I actually liked despite having watched quite a few of them.

I have watched Love ft. Marriage & Divorce, Valid Love etc. but just couldn't stomach voting for them, since I felt they were more or less just hot messes.

 

I will therefore highlight my number 1 dramas in each category:

 

Best Revenge dramas

 

Secret (Love)

 

Hands down the best revenge drama for me. I have watched it many times, and I find new elements in it each time I watch it. Last time @Sleepy Owl and I did a rewatch we were exhausted after it because there were so may new things we discovered along with the myriad of emotions / feelings the drama elicited. I will rewatch it in 2023 though. It's time.

 

Best Cheating Dramas

 

Yea, not gonna mention The Last Empress here. It has traumatized me for life.

Glad to see that Choi Jin Hyuk is coming back to dramaland before summer with Accounting Firm. My guess is that he's gonna play some sort of a villain.

 

A Promise with God

A drama from 2018 that I just by mistake stumbled upon when it started airing. It didn't have A-list actors, but the story was interesting. As @maribella pointed out, it had a thought provoking plot.

 

A divorced couple decides to have another child in order to save their elder child who is suffering from leukemia. Both parties have new partners - the ex-wife is married to a great guy (who is not a cheater), and the ex-husband is married to the witch lady who seduced him already when he was still married to the FL. To make matters worse, the FL was at that time was pregnant with the child they are now trying to save.

So the drama does take you on a wild ride without going makjang (or at least too makjang - lol).

None. Am not into healing dramas. I did vote for Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Kill Me Heal Me even though I don't find them particularly healing.

How is Reborn Rich a revenge show? The man was in coma for a week. It was 17 years of another man's life. The 'perpetrators' did not know they were set up by their victim. No, it's not good revenge. A revenge is  very good if it were rammed down the throat of the target, he/she should know why. 

 

I agree about Reborn Rich, I don't think it shows good revenge, it just peters out. But it started off as wantign to have revenge and has been quite popular this year. Is there anything else you would like to mention instead?

Okay, so dramas that would warm my heart then:

 

Heart to Heart

This is #1 healing drama I would say, because both leads suffer from psychological issues and traumas but work on them together. To make matters interesting, the ML is a psychologist but he's deeply troubled too The FL has social anxiety.

 

 

Your Honor

One of my favorite kdramas - Yoon Shi Yoon oppa stars in it. It is heartwarming and healing too.

 

I am drawn more to dramatic stuff and thrillers. @agenth Do you like any other healing dramas than LITC?

Not really. I watch dailies that fall into the revenge category for their unintentional humour and a lot of WTHs.

I am ok with your list. I enjoyed 15/16 of Reborn Rich. That's a good percentage. The writer was probably under pressure to add in the 'twist' to the storyline.

I was tempted to put in HEALER for Healing dramas. I also like Hometown Cha Cha Cha and 25.21, albeit the ending ruined the whole series!!!

I don't mind dailies. It's just hard to watch because it's a daily commitment :d 

And quite provocative, I remember the emotions I was in due to watching Temptation of wife. You want to shake some people that are fictious! 

 

Reborn Rich webtoon apparently had a different ending too... so you might be on to something!

Hi everyone). From what's recently aired I personally absolutely loved Remarriage&Desire and Reborn Rich.

I thought it was perfectly balanced and filled with romance, revenge and subplots.

so I actually haven't watched a lot of the shorter revene series on this poll @agenth because they are too serious. like @maribella notes, dailies revenge category have a lot of unintentional humour and WTH which actually make it entertainng. they are not too serious that you are getting your blood pressure up or feeling angst. at the same time, it is entertaining. invariably, there is cheating allowed and the FL will get dumped. despite having the intellingence of a pea, somehow she will get the bestest revenge by finding a more handsome nice guy who just happens to meet her right after she gets dumped. good timing eh!

the older rom-com dramas were like that; they were funny, sweet and heartfelt. I can't remember a rom-com that I enjoyed in the recent years. the one that came to mind immediately was my princess. haven't watched it since it aired but at the time I watched, I highly enjoyed it. 

the ML looked hot!  his handsomeness was dialed up to the notch. FL was hysterically ditzy and dumb. it was a running joke tha she couldn't pick up things and he tried so desperately to teach her stuff to prepare her for her new life. there was great clothes, funny scenes and a nice OST. so yea, that felt kind of like a hug I guess.

i know what you mean. I have a lot of nostalgic feelings with older dramas I caught but I think rewatching would make me cringe due to some cliche or problematic moments. 
(example: princes first Love had amazing scenes due to the female Leads job at some hotel resort in Tahiti, Male lead cha tae hyun… need i say more?)

 

from the new ones I enjoyed it was 25.21 right up until the end, but it had the 90s vibe and history …

 

also hometown cha cha cha as it was just really laidback. 
 

i think you would approve of the vibrant and bright colours used in run on …. It’s really really light. 
 

you actually don’t need to use much edit for this drama. However I have to say the plot is very understated so I’m not sure if you would enjoy it.

if I had to think of a romance that fit the theme of the thread -- revenge, cheating and second chances -- it would be fate and fury. the FL was cold angry and it was interesting to watch her seduce the ML with barely any effort. she basically had to breathe and guy was head over heels. lots of chemistry but the writing was a bit all over the place. so the first third -- intriguing; the second third -- meh and the final third -- interesting somewhat. 

would have worked with some better writing. all the actors involved though did their job and it had nice shoes and a good OST.

Am not sure if you'll like it. @Sleepy Owl and I certainly do, and it will become one of those dramas that I will want to rewatch every few years. But you'll probably find something to be annoyed about because you were also annoyed by Seceret (Love) - another one of dongsaeng's and my favorites.

Haven't watched any of the choices yet, maybe just some clips or so. World of Married and The Last Empress would be the first choices I'll see though for the reactions and memes for these two dramas.
